I'm not so sure about the prediction that plaid will be a popular item. Though furthering the move away from web 2.0 is likely. There will definitely be more texture used in 08. I think patterns will be big as well. This is a great article to get you thinking about this years trends.

Outstanding Ape Icon Design
I just came across a great article that I missed when putting together this months Roundup.
